I am constantly both amazed and appalled at the lack of interest shown by the American public in our space program. I sometimes wonder if NASAs failure to excite the public is due to the horrible lack of coverage by the media, or if it's the other way around. Maybe people really don't care...
I hope that's not the case. More likely, I feel that many people don't understand the enormous benefits we reap from the program, or just don't see the parallels between the astronauts and the pioneers of the old west. We need to explore space, as surely as the covered wagons needed to push west of the Mississippi. But enough whining. Some of us do want to see more coverage, and here are some great places to start your trek.
