The Berenstain Bears On Their Own (CD-i)

Kids win gold stars as they clean their rooms, catch the school bus on time, match the alphabet, and have great fun with the Berenstain Bears. Twenty-nine challenging games in all, best suited for ages 3-6.

The Berenstain Bears (Atari 2600)

Coleco, 1983.  One of the all-time "crown jewels" for Atari collectors.  This title is very difficult to find, probably one of the ten rarest.  This game even turned up in a segment on the PBS television show, “Antiques Roadshow.”  Especially rare because it was designed for the Coleco Kid Vid system (only one other game, the Smurfs, was designed for this).  A complete set should contain three additional tapes that plug into the Kid Vid system and play the "sound story cassettes” as the game is played.  Without the cassettes, the game does not progress and you can do virtually nothing.

The Berenstain Bears’ Camping Adventure (Sega Genesis and Game Gear)

Sega, 1994.  This game for one or two players was released by Sega for it’s two most popular gaming platforms nearly a decade ago.  Recommended for ages 5-9, and rated appropriate for all audiences (would you expect anything less from the Berenstain Bears?), this game features five “fun-packed levels of puzzles, secret prizes, bonus levels, and spooky varmints” [From the Genesis description, Game Gear has more limited features, of course].  Basically, the story is that the Bear Family goes camping in the woods – but Brother and Sister wander off and get lost.  Players try to help the cubs back to camp; trails lead them through “sparkling streams, diamond caves, honey orchards, a haunted forest, and more!”

The Berenstain Bears: A School Day (Sega Pico)

I currently have no information on this title. J

Extreme Sports with the Berenstain Bears (Game Boy Color)

Sound Entertainment, Ltd., 2000.  Join the Berenstain Bears family in extreme sporting fun. There are six games that take place in the snow, the river, and the dirt. Play Brother or Sister Bear in sledding, biking, freestyle kayaking, and dirt boarding events. Take the Berenstain family through tobogganing and rafting courses. You must race against the clock over terrain studded with trees, rocks, gaps, logs, waterfalls, or rapids. Overall, this game got pretty bad reviews when it came out, and it’s no surprise that less than two years later, it is no longer available.

Life's Little Lessons... Little Bears Make Big Helpers (Win/Mac CD-ROM)
Courtesy of Macmillan (1999), The Berenstain Bears are back for more family fun in this interactive CD for the preschool set (Ages 4-6). Storybook-like animation and simple, goal-oriented activities help teach ideas about cooperation and helpfulness.  Most of the activities use easy hand-eye coordination to move the mouse around to do things like collect honey or vacuum a room.  Multichild aware game, allowing separate logins for different children.  Progress for each child is tracked even between games, and the goal is to earn a printable certificate saying what a great helper cub the child is, with his/her name on it!  It can also be played as a two-player game on one computer, getting children used to the idea of sharing and cooperating within the game itself. There are four categories, one for each bear. Your child can help Papa Bear collect honey, or Momma Bear make a quilt, or one of the bear cubs run errands or clean their rooms. After helping all four bears and earning all the awards, your own little "cub" can print out a final certificate with his or her name on it.
