Bagend
IN A HOLE in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare , sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle...

What I would really like to do is introduce you to the rest of the family...

The Ballerina

MINDY is 18, and just finished her first year at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). She is majoring in Engineering (she's still deciding which discipline), and minoring in Dance and Ballet. She is especially good at math (all the other kids come to her when they need help) and art (takes after her Dad). Somehow, she manages to squeeze in time for Drama, Music, church and friends. She has been taking Ballet for close to 10 years and is quite a dancer now. This is one of her favorite posters in her room. While she doesn't share her dad's love for computers, she has found them to be a useful tool at school, what with high speed network drops to every dorm room!

SAM is 14 now, and the budding computer wizard. (He's already fixing the computers at school when they have problems.) He loves playing video games on the computer when I let him, though he is beginning to learn that he has to get his homework done for school before he starts into the games. Any time I crack open the cover on the computer to fix something or install a new device, Sam's right there watching. Sooner or later, he's going to start picking up spare parts and building his own...

When Sam isn't on the computer, he's likely to be playing soccer (football), or drawing a picture of some new invention or space ship, or creating an army of Lego men and their flying machines...

Sam has his own Email account at: stsam@juno.com ... as well as his own web page that he's just started working on.

Samuel Tryon and Ben
Here is a picture of both of them, and another picture of the family.

Sue at Letchworth

SUE finds her most peaceful moments walking in the woods. She is sitting here with the gorge of the Genesee River behind her in Letchworth State Park. We have made a habit of trying to go there once a year, early in the spring when the trillium are in bloom. The kids enjoy the weekend at Grandma's while we take some time just for the two of us.

Alas, Sue can't spend all her time walking in the woods. What she really spendings most of her time doing is teaching kindergarteners to read, and squeezing in duties as the principal of a small Christian school.
