WHILE one would expect a Hobbit to come from the Shire, this particular one solves riddles in Rochester, NY (USA). As you may guess, I am a great fan of J.R.R. Tolken, and took up the name "Bilbo" a number of years ago when I was on a local BBS, "Drool's Retreat" (a long time ago, before the days of the Internet and the World Wide Web). Somehow the name stuck, and I have used it ever since...(If you are interested in more on Tolkien and the Hobbits, see Aragorn's Tolkien home page and links, as well as the Cyber Doors for all kinds of Tolkien images and information! For information on C.S. Lewis, who was a close friend of Tolkien, see Into the Wardrobe.)
Since I haven't found any magic rings lately, or Dwarves looking for someone to be the lucky number in their group, I spend my days programming computers at Questra Consulting (see link below). Unix is my preferred environment (pick your flavor - either IBM's AIX, SunOS or Linux), but I've been known to poke my nose into the dark lairs of Microsoft, and I've built my share of PC's from cast off computer parts. When not working on computers, or trying to pay attention to the rest of my family, I enjoy bicycling (I am a member of Team@Internet, Cyberspace's first official Cycling Team.) and writing stories, a number of which I've included here.
Allow me to introduce you to the rest of the family. My 14 year old son, Sam (third generation Geek ;), even has his own web page.
Please feel welcome here! My home is your home. In fact, I think I hear the tea kettle just beginning to boil...
(Here are some of my favorite images - of The Riddle, and another picture of the old Hobbit.)
