Puppies

Most of our dogs are sold as 8 week old puppies. We usually breed between two and four litters a year. We sometimes place our older puppies, and we occasionally place mature retired dog with the perfect family.

If you are interested in purchasing a Sunshine puppy please phone us at 530-549-4623. We like to talk to you over the telephone, not just by e-mail about your family situation and give you all of the pertinent information about our dogs.

If we feel that we can work together as a potential team for the life of your dog then we will send you a reservation form to fill out. We take deposits for our puppies usually before they are born or soon after. We will send you photos of the puppies starting at about 10 days, then usually every 1 to 2 weeks. Your family will be invited to come and visit the puppies after they are 5 weeks old. We place our puppies by temperaments. The temperament that best suits your family is what we are striving for. The puppies usually go to their new homes at 8 weeks.

If you buy a puppy from us you are required to have your dog’s hips and elbows x-rayed; you must then submit those x-rays to OFA for evaluation at the age of two years. We are keeping full orthopedic litter data on all litters we breed. It is important for our breeding program as well as for the breed’s future. It is also important for you as the owner to know the orthopedic health of your dogs.

If you are buying a companion puppy you are required to spay or neuter after your puppy is one year of age. We sell all of our puppies with a contract; the puppies that are companion dogs are sold with a limited registration and the show puppies are sold with a show contract. We guarantee all of our puppies, and are available to help you with any concerns you might have through the life of your dog.
