David Beam7,14 was born on 17 Apr 1777 in Geneve
Switzerland. He died on 4 Jan 1858 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.
He was buried in David Beam Cemetery, Rutherford County, NC.9,15 David
became a farmer and married Rachel Cain. He lived for many years near his father
on Buffalo Creek. Before his death he purchased a farm in Rutherford County.
He was a very pious, a quite man and highly respected and loved by his neighbors.
He was taught and raised in the Lutheran Church, but became a Baptist under the
teachings of Rev. Drury Dobbins.
In 1812 David Beam bought land from William Green and built a two-story log
house with and attic. In 1890 an addition was built to be used as a post office.
The mail was brought by horseback from Mooresboro to Memory Post Office in the
Drury Dobbins community. When Whitten Beam died in 1903, the post office was

The original log house was built on a land grant from the King of England
to Daniel Shipman, who received the grant of 244 acres in 1772. He sold it to
William Green in 1795. William Green then sold the 244 acres to David Beam in
1812.
David Beam built his home in 1813-1814 and moved into it in 1815. When he
died, he willed it to his son Monroe Beam. Monroe Beam gave it to his son Joseph
Beam. Joseph Beam sold it to W. V. Beam. Mr. W. V. Beam has made a deed of 4
1/2 acres which includes the David Beam house to the trustees of the David Beam
Cemetery. David Beam, the second son of John T. Beam was born in Geneva, Switzerland
and came with his parents to America when quite young.
David Beam and Rachel Cain were married in 1798. Rachel
Cain7 was born on 2 Oct
1777 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She died on 10 Apr 1865 in
Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was buried in David Beam Cemetery,
Rutherford County, NC.16
