Why we use banners in publick ministry
"Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed
because of the truth. Selah." Psalms 60:4
Theme : How Banners in our ministry have helped us.
1. BELIEVE - the Bible record - John 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."
( Why should men get mad at a picture? )
2. BRAVE - the Battles when out numbered
( The Banner is big and bright, it gets attention. It adds size and dimension to small soldiers. It reaches down the street and covers the whole area even when you are out alone. It encourages christians to preach with it. )
3. BRAG - about Jesus in a world that boasts about their sin.
( the world has booze billboards, sin advertisements. The banner speaks loud and clear. There is no question what your message is! Lets brag about our savior! )
4. BOOM - forth "the gospel " message
( The devil blares his music to drown out the messenger. It can not be drowned out at noisey events. It can be seen from quite a distance and sets you apart within a crowd! It is hard to miss, without it you blend in, rather than stick out. People WANT to see what it is and what it says! )
5. BRINGS - conviction to backslidden saints and to lost sinners.
(I have seen cars stop on city streets. People stop and stare. People turn around and come back. People ask questions!).
6. BIND Christians UNITE together around a visible focus point ,
"The Lords Commission "
( Christian spectators are often encouraged to become participators. Our people love banners, scripture signs & publick ministry. The result of our common activity is UNITY - we become " war buddies " having served in action together. )
