UMC MARKET FUNDRISER

As a member of UMC market, every time you shop on line at participating stores, you help the church! Go to www.umcmarket.org and follow 3 simple steps: 1. Join now: enter your email address and a password, click “Register”.  2. Find your church: type in Algood, click “Search”.  3. Click “Join Organization”.  Now donations from your purchases go to AUMC.

No additional cost to you beyond the purchase of goods, the partner stores are donating a percentage to the church.

Your micro-donations will automatically appear in your account for all stores except for amazon.com.  Amazon purchases have to be claimed.  The website contains all the information needed to successfully utilize this fundraising tool.

NEW MEMBER SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

People interested in joining the church who have questions about what United Methodists believe and expectations of church membership are invited to this class.  We’ll meet in Fellowship Hall at 10 AM, beginning January 12th.

AUMC POST OFFICE

The Christmas Card Post Office has become the AUMC Post Office and will remain open all year ‘round for any greetings you may wish to send other members.  Drop cards (no addresses needed – names only) in the designated box in Fellowship Hall and make a donation in lieu of purchasing stamps.  The Children’s and Youth Sunday School classes will sort the cards each Sunday and deliver them in person or place them in a “mailbox” for the receiver to pick up.  Proceeds go to the children/youth projects.

YOUTH (AND PARENTS!)

Warmth in Winter is January 31st – February 2nd, 2014.  Registration deadline is Wednesday, January 8th.  Please see Pastor Pat!

MEN’S GROUP

Volunteers are needed to help on the second Saturday of each month with the community breakfast.  Please contact David Norris.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

There are many ways to help AUMC and the larger community that may not get enough mention.  In addition to regular financial giving for the ministries of AUMC, you can consider:  CAN CART;  Recycling aluminum cans has generated $7,297.30, to date, so save those cans and deposit them in the cart beside the FLC!  CARTRIDGE RECYCLING; Your used computer cartridges can be dropped in the box in the Annex for recycling.  This project has earned $713.47, to date.  CELEBRATION OF LIFE; Giving a financial gift to this fund enables us to help those in need in our community to cover basic needs in an emergency situation.  Your gift can be made in honor or memory of someone/something and an acknowledgement card is sent.  KROGER CARES CARDS; Use this simple method to pay for groceries, gas, and prescriptions and earn $$ for AUMC.  Kroger has rebated $8,311.59 to AUMC to date.  LABELS FOR EDUCATION; These labels are given to our teachers to redeem for classroom aids.  Deposit the Campbell’s labels and General Mill’s Box Tops for Education in the large red box in Fellowship Hall.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

Our Christmas mission project of donating toys, diapers and toiletries to the women and children at Genesis House will continue throughout the year.

Our next meeting will be on the 3rd of February at 6 PM, in the church library.  All women of the church are invited to attend.

PLEASE NOTE

Scheduling of activities in the FLC is done through the church office.  BEFORE planning any event, please contact us by phone (537-6111) during regular office hours or by email (algoodumc@frontiernet.net) to avoid any conflict.  Thanks!

“SIGN-UP TABLE”

A table in Fellowship Hall has been designated the “Sign-up Table” and that’s where you’ll find any current sign-up sheets, instead of on the sanctuary entrance table

IMPORTANT REMINDER!

We continue to have some problems when our Fellowship Hall or education wing has been used for meetings and events.  Please designate someone in your group to check that all lights (inside and out) are off, all doors are locked and all thermostats have been reset to “run program” before you leave the building.  For the security of our facility and for good stewardship, we need everyone to be responsible.

KROGER GIFT CARDS – AUMC FUNDRAISING PROGRAM

Do you shop at Kroger? If you do, you can help AUMC with each purchase! Simply purchase a $5.00 Kroger Gift Card from Cheryl (Church Secretary).  When you are spending more than $5.00 at Kroger’s have the cashier recharge your card (by cash, check or major credit card) for an additional amount prior to your purchase.  Then pay for your purchase using your Kroger Gift Card.  Every time you add money to your Kroger Gift Card a percentage goes to AUMC.  How easy can it be to help finance the work of AUMC while you shop! So don’t wait! Sign up with Cheryl this week!
