How some of the “Greats” view the Economy:

We who live in free market societies believe that growth, prosperity and ultimately human fulfillment, are created from the bottom up, not the government down. Only when the human spirit is allowed to invent and create, only when individuals are given a personal stake in deciding economic policies and benefiting from their success -- only then can societies remain economically alive, dynamic, progressive, and free. Trust the people. This is the one irrefutable lesson of the entire postwar period contradicting the notion that rigid government controls are essential to economic development. -- Ronald Reagan

The natural effort of every individual to better his own condition is so powerful that it is alone, and without any assistance, not only capable of carrying on the society to wealth and prosperity, but of surmounting a hundred impertinent obstructions with which the folly of human laws too often encumbers its operations. -- Adam Smith

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -- Ronald Reagan

I, however, place economy among the first and most important republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of the dangers to be feared. -- Thomas Jefferson

There are no such things as limits to growth, because there are no limits on the human capacity for intelligence, imagination and wonder. -- Ronald Reagan

Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon. -- Winston Churchill

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -- Ronald Reagan

When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. -- Benjamin Franklin

My goal is to put money back into taxpayer’s pockets, so they can buy goods and services, which in turn puts money into corporations.  Profitable corporations  ,in return, will create paying jobs, improve goods and services, offer competitive prices, and be a good charitable contributor to their surrounding communities.  Thriving surrounding communities make happy citizens (i.e. taxpayers).  Happy taxpayers will and can afford to buy more good and services.  It is the “Magical” power of the number three at work...taxpayers, corporations, and communities.

Communities

3 C’s

· Promote Local Corporations

Þ Promote businesses New York State can boast about: wineries, breweries, apple farms, tourism, retailers, manufacturers,  etc.

Þ Eliminate laws preventing food retailers from selling wine

Þ Eliminate laws preventing food retailers from buying directly from the wineries or breweries

Þ Eliminate laws preventing corporations or small business owners from owning more than one liquor license

Þ Encourage retailers to sell homegrown products & patronize them

· Put money back into Citizen’s pockets

Þ Promoting local businesses will create more local jobs.  More available local jobs means earning an income.  Thus, more money in your pocket!

Þ Eliminate the $.05 deposit on glass and plastic bottles.  Put them in your blue or green box with all the other recyclables when it’s trash day.  Let’s lower our weekly food bill!

Þ No more paying tolls on the thruway.  We could eliminate payroll because we would not need any thruway employees anymore.  Build road construction, snow removal, salting, etc. into the state budget.  There are many states that have no tolls.  Why not us?

Þ Increase the state minimum wage and have it tied to inflation or the Consumer Price Index annually.  No more cheap labor!

Þ If the minimum wage increases, then employers must pay a higher wage now for traditionally low-paying jobs like waitresses and waiters.  If companies paid their employees more, then we as patrons wouldn’t have to leave a tip.   You can still tip if you like, but it is not necessary anymore because employers will have to pay their employees more.  Stop forcing us patrons to subsidize your payroll.  Pay your employees more!

· Support the Community

Þ Thriving Corporations and Happy Citizens make happy givers

Þ Charity begins at home and not from the government
