My Cluny Loom

I made this using shrink plastic, however I am sure other things like the curved side of a plastic pop bottle would work though it would not be as sturdy. I am including both the full size beginning pattern I used on the shrink plastic (takes a full sheet) and the finished size so that you can use either to fit your needs if you would like. I am go to give the how tos for how I did it on the shrink plastic. I do not feel this is the best design nor do I feel it is the only design but it works for me and it might for you.

Scratch the shape onto shrink plastic using a darning needle, stiletto, or other sharp object. I prefer scratching in the outline so that there is no chance of pencil, marker etc leaching onto my thread or hands when using the finished product. With scissors carefully cut out shape on the scratched guide line. Before you begin shrinking this you will need a curved surface to allow this to cool over, I used the center core cardboard tube from a ball of crochet cotton lightly dusted with baby powder.

Follow the directions with your shrink plastic, when loom is completely shrunk, but still hot shape over curved surface as shown in picture. Be very careful, as shrink plastic is very hot and can cause burns. Take the necessary precautions to protect yourself from burns. The loom should be concave when finished allowing for shuttle or needle to be woven easier.
