Hiding Ends Lily's Way

Have you ever noticed that the front side of the double stitch looks like pant legs and a waist band? Lily Morales paid attention when she read Fancy Pants and Advanced Fancy Pants both by Edwards. That is where she came across the terms waist band and pant legs when describing the look of the double stitch (DS). Lily uses those terms to explain the technique that she developed to hide ends. Lily's method is very simple, give great results and is virtually undetectable when done. Lily 'sews' the ends between the pant legs and the waist band of the double stitch.

Terms used in this method of hiding ends.

1. Needle coming UP from back side, under "waist band". Note that the front and back will have the thread laying similar to the red thread shown in the diagram.

2. After 8 "stitches", going through a total of 4 ds, front and back. Pull on thread tail (needle end) to make the thread 'pop' up under the waist band of the double stitch.

3. After "popping" the stitches see how the yellow "end" disappears under the double stitches in the butterfly. In the diagram you see the location these stitches hide at.

4. After clipping the tail the hidden end is very hard to locate as this diagram shows.
