I used 2 strands DMC embroidery floss (white and color #995) with a size #7 tatting needle to make this cross book mark I used the pattern on top of page 26 of Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn.

When I read the directions before beginning the actual tatting I got myself very confused. I really wanted to do this cross as a surprise for my friend, I don't know why but it had to be this one. Well I took a deep breath and plunged in, imagine my surprise when I found out that by taking it in small bites it was very understandable. I was even able to do the majority of it without the pattern in front of me, only needing to check how many "flowers" for the part of the cross I was working on. I have a feeling this will become one of my favorite patterns for gifts.
