Frequently Asked Questions:

1-Q. What filters do I need on/off?
1-A. It depends what you want results for. Generally it is best to turn filters on for:

Effects of special actions on others
Others' attacks
Others' missed attacks
Special actions initiated by others

To prevent other parties from showing up in your results. Leave all other filters off.

2-Q. When do I run the parser?
2-A. For best results, run it before you start playing and view it after. You can run it after, but you won't get much results.

3-Q. Is this program against the FFXI ToS?
3-A. No. It only copies log files that are readable in any text editor. It does NOT affect gameplay in any way. It does NOT read any runtimes. It does nothing more but what you can do while playing with fast hands, a calculater, and pen & paper.

4-Q. Won't it miss lines if the chat box text is going too fast?
4-A. Absolutely not.

5-Q. Does it read Damage over Time spells?
5-A. No. It can only read what is displayed while playing. If you can't see it, usually the parser can't either.

6-Q. How do I add comments?
6-A. Simply type /echo parser comment 'my comments' during or before the fight you want to add comments for.

7-Q. How do I get DPS/EXP calculations to work?
7-A. These are the in game commands to use:

In order for these to work, you must also enter "/clock" in the game AFTER each start/stop command to get the time to display in the log.

Example to use:

Unfortunately you would have to do the start/stop DPS each fight for accurate DPS calculation for all fights. Should be simple if you setup some macros. If you like, you can do it only on fights you want, it will not include other fights in the calculation that do not have the start/stop DPS commands. The DPS is displayed on the Summary report

8-Q. What do the letters near the monster name mean?
8-A. They tell you what the strenght of that monster was (only works if you check during fight).

9-Q. How do I export?
9-A. This is located in the Edit area, just click the button "Export/Recalc".

10-Q. What does "Errors: False - Waiting for new log" mean?
10-A. This is usually a good thing, but if you are seeing no results you probably started the parser after playing FFXI and FFXI has overwritten any logs with battles in them. Next time, start the parser before playing.
