Tim Guenther has maintained this website since 2004, and has collected the names and addresses (E-mail) of 58 tandem teams in the greater Rochester area.

Unfortunately, due to medical problems, Tim is now riding a recumbent tricycle and the Guenther's beloved Ibis tandem is up for sale. It is unlikely that a tandem trike is in their future.

Please contact Tim if you would like to organize the Greats and take over the website. The person who "does" the website will need to find their own host, as the site currently resides in Tim's personal space.

The GREATS, with the guiding light of the more efficiently organized team of Chuck and Bonnie Hallman-Dye, has been riding and occasionally hosting tandem events in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York for many years, including the Eastern Tandem Rally in 1986, 1995, and again in 2004!

"Loosely organized" is perhaps an understatement! The last weekend of February 2005, five and one-half couples from the ETR organizing committee, gathered for a pot luck dinner to discuss the upcoming GREATS tandem season. We certainly had no problem with the "eating" part of our mandate.

It was decided that as long as we do NOT collect any money from anyone, we do not have to bother with any sort of documentation for this group (no sign-in forms, etc.). We simply announce that a bunch of "friends" are going to ride our tandems on a given date; we will meet at a predetermined location and time; and after that everyone is pretty much on their own. If we happen to end up at an eatery at about the same time, then GREAT (pun intended).
