SGT. David Michael Staab
Funeral mass for David Michael Staab, 24, who passed away on August 1, 2008 at his home in rural Dawson, was held on August 5, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church. Interment was in St. James Catholic Cemetery, rural Dawson, with military honors by the Minnesota National Guard.
David Michael Staab was born June 18, 1984 to Mike and Cindy (Fliss) Staab in Dawson. He was baptized at St. James Catholic Church and received his first Communion and Confirmation there.
Staab graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 2003 and enrolled in the diesel mechanic program at Alexandria Technical College, recently receiving his diploma. He was currently employed with Dawson Truck Parts, Dawson.
Staab enlisted in the Army National Guard while attending high school and went into active service in 2004 with Company B, 434th Main Support Battalion, to support Operation Iraqi Freedom as motor transport. He was released from active duty on November 15, 2005 and returned home. He just recently received notification of his promotion to Sergeant with the 175th Forward Support Company, Appleton.
Staab enjoyed snowmobiling, ATV’s, mudding, working on his pickup and downloading and listening to music on his computer.
Staab is survived by his son, Carter Michael and his son’s mother, Katie Barnum, both of Fargo, ND; his parents, Mike and Cindy Staab of Dawson; sisters, Katie (Randy) Nelson, of Dawson, MaryBeth (Mike) Cleveland of Canby; grandmother, Arlene Fliss of Canby; nieces and nephews, Brendan and Korissa Nelson of Dawson, Brook, Hunter and Olivia Cleveland of Canby; many aunts and uncles, cousins and other family, friends and Guard buddies.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold (Bud) Fliss, and Andrew and Rita Staab, and a cousin, Mitch Staab.

Ramona K. Orlowski
Ramona K. Orlowski, 81, of Owatonna, died Aug. 23, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
A funeral mass was held Thursday Aug. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1927, in Canby, to Nicholas and Rose (Hoffman) Frank. She graduated from Canby High School in 1944 and attended St. Teresa College in Winona. She married Eugene Orlowski on Oct. 25, 1948.
She is survived by sons Mark of Ft. Collins, Co., M. Brian (Kris) of Owatonna, and daughters Laurie (Terry) Kruckeberg, and Marcia Prestegard also of Owatonna and Barbara (David) Olsen of Austin, along with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Madonna Manasco of Portland, Ore., and Veronica Balfe of Beaverton, Ore..
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, son Stephen, and granddaughter Katie, her parents and brothers Florian and Cyril.
