Since 1985, the Downtown Community Forum (DCF) has contributed to the development of a better-informed citizenry by showcasing the diversity of opinion within the Rochester community. DCF gatherings provide an opportunity to explore important issues and exchange ideas in an ecumenical, nonpartisan, democratic, and values - centered setting.
Financial support for these programs comes from the people of St. Mary's Church, individuals, corporations, and the Rochester Area Community Forum.
When programs are in session, a sign directs you to the Dugan
Center entrance.
The Liturgy Committee plans, develops, and implements effective liturgy within the guidelines of the church and in a manner that reflects the liturgical spirit of the parish community. In addition to weekly liturgies, the committee plans seasonal, sacramental, and special celebrations, and directs the training and performance of liturgical ministers. Members are committed to their own on-going liturgical education in order to better serve the faith community at St. Mary's.
The Parish Pastoral Council exists as a advisory and
policy-making body of St. Mary's community, the parish pastoral
council determines goals and objectives for the parish and reviews
parish programs in light of these and diocesan goals. The council
identifies its purpose as proclaiming the good news of Jesus'
Gospel by initiating and facilitating community relationships
and the work of the parish community. By providing a forum where
all members of St. Mary's can express opinions and contribute
to the decisions that affect our lives and mission, the parish
council attempts: to strengthen active participation in the liturgical
life of prayer and worship; to carry out the teaching mission
of the Church through the Youth and Adult Religious Education
programs; to initiate programs of social ministry which help bring
justice and clarity into people's lives; to plan for fiscal responsibility;
and to plan for the long range welfare of the parish.

St. Mary's Faithful Artists gather regularly to celebrate God's gift of creativity in each individual. We recognize this creative spirit that we share and strive to discover how God is revealed through the media of the arts, be it painting, writing, drawing, music, dance or hand crafts. We encourage and support one another's efforts. We believe that our work springs from our faith life and reveals expressions of the truth and beauty of the Divine. We welcome all those who respect and develop this gift of creativity within themselves and others. The Faithful Artists look for opportunities to share our gifts with the larger St. Mary's faith community. We see our discussions and sharing as a way of enlivening our faith experience and nurturing our creative spirit.
