We left Sunday morning and returned on Sunday afternoon a week later.
Trip statistics:
4621 miles in apx. 7 days, 11 hours averaging almost 46 mpg
Temperature low was 55 degrees F. (In the Sierras on the way out)
Temperature high was 109 degrees F. (Sacramento on the way home)
We mapped out our trip the day before we left. We checked the weather forecast too.
We expected to get rained on through Wyoming. Instead, we woke up to thunder showers in Utah.
Fortunately, the rain went away after about an hour into Wyoming.
We camped everywhere except Lincoln, NE. We planned on a motel that night thinking we would be wet.
We figured out only two campgrounds ahead of time, Utah and Minnesota.
The rest we basically looked for when we were ready.
We watched the July 4th fireworks at the water in Duluth, Minnesota.
We also saw the fireworks across the water from Wisconsin.
A few things we observed:
NV would be very boring without the Sierras, UT has some cool colors,
WY has a lot of nothing (on hwy 80), we do want to spend some time in the NW part some day,
NE and IA have a lot of corn, the roads through St. Paul, MN are really bad,
there is nothing to stop the wind in ND, MT is scenic, ID has some cool falls
Time stamps on the pictures are in Pacific time
