My Goddess of Speed
Since getting my Packard, I have wanted to get a Goddess of Speed hood ornament for her.  What most of you do not know about me is that I am an active member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.  In 2001, I completed my term as Chairman of Region 8, which encompasses Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  It is the practice of the Region to present the outgoing Chairman with a token of appreciation for their service at the end of their term in office.  This token is usually in the form of a clock.  When my wife was queried as to what type of clock I would want, her reply was I would really appreciate a gift for my Packard.  At the completion of my term, I was presented with a check and a web address.  Having priced the Goddess in the past, I knew the check would not cover the entire cost of the Goddess, but it sure would help.  I made a statement then as I thanked them for this token that I would get my Goddess.  And with that, here she is.

Thank you, Region 8, I will always remember the people that makes up the Region with warmth every time I look out over the hood.
