Dear Friends: So much is going on in people's lives these days, it is very
hard not to run into someone that feels discouraged or down. But there are many reasons not to give into that, especially if we look up and think that the character of God as revealed in Christ invites our faith and love, for we have a Father whose mercy and compassion fail not. At every step of our journey heavenward He will be with us to guide in every perplexity, to give us help in every temptation. God scatters His blessings all along our path to brighten our heavenward journey, it is up to us to stop and consider what He has given us. Time is passing, the end is near. Time is valuable. Now is our time of probation. There is an eternity of bliss to gain, a perdition to shun. . .You may now be passing through a critical experience; but, I entreat of you, be not hasty, be not discouraged, but submit your case to God. Wait upon the Lord and do His will, and in this hour of trial He will work for you, and you will obtain a precious experience. Lie low at the foot of the cross. Give God a chance to work and He will teach you precious lessons. . .The truth as it is in Jesus can be experienced, but never explained. Its height and breadth and depth pass our knowledge. We may task our imagination to the utmost, and then we shall see only dimly the outlines of a love that is unexplainable, that is as high as heaven, but that stooped to the earth to stamp the image of God on all mankind. When such love has been showered upon you, how can you despair as if you had no hope? Let us talk faith, and we shall have faith. Never give place to a thought of discouagement. . .Never utter a word of doubt. Our God is a God of mercy. With long patience and tender compassion He deals with the transgressors of His law. . . .The Lord bears long with human beings. We are standing on the threshold of the crisis of the ages. In quick succession the judgements of God will follow one another—fire and flood, and earthquake, with war and bloodshed... The storm of God's wrath is gathering; and those only will stand who respond to the invitaion of mercy, . . .and become sanctified through obedience to the laws of the divine Ruler. The righteous alone will be hid with Christ in God till the desolation be overpast. Let the language of the soul be: "Other refuge have I none; Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, Oh leave me not alone! Still support and comfort me.
"Hide me, O my Saviour, hide, Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide; Oh, receive my soul at last!"
