WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT AUGUST 4TH?

This is the day to go aboard the 1860s schooner, the Lois McClure, while she's docked in Brockport on the Erie Canal. But more than that, this is a day of hands-on fun at Brockport's landmark treasure -- the 150-year-old Morgan-Manning estate. Here you'll observe artists demonstrating 19th century crafts. Try your hand at spinning or rug braiding, or watch a master woodcarver create life-like birds. Marvel at the room-sized US flag, circa 1837, on public exhibit for the first time in the mansion's gold parlor. Stop long enough outside to enjoy music of the day and mouth-watering food while listening to stories your great grandpa might have told. For the first time, the McBride collection will be open to the public. It's just a wagon ride from downtown Brockport and is sure to enthrall you with its authentic 1800s equipment. There's fun, food and lots to do on Saturday, August 4th in Brockport This special day is a fund-raiser for the Western Monroe Historical Society. Profits from the day's receipts will be used to restore the dining room of the Morgan-Manning House. Tickets are available on the day of the event at the wagon stop by the Lois McClure schooner and at the Morgan-Manning House on Main Street. Advance purchase of tickets is available by calling 585/ 637-3645.
