December 11 - 13, 2008 — For this year’s Christmas Show HCT presents two timeless classics, "Gift of the Magi" based on the short story by O. Henry, as adapted by Thomas Hischak, and secondly "O Holy Knight" by Patrick Rainville Dorn. O. Henry's holiday favorite "Gift of the Magi" is about Jim and Della. They are newlyweds with their whole lives before them. Both have vivid imaginations and tell fantastic stories, creating a storybook world for themselves. But then hard times come. In "O Holy Knight" this mirthful, medieval Christmas story, a blizzard has brought a motley mix of commoners, merchants and courtiers together in a castle’s banquet hall. To pass the time, they all agree to perform a Nativity pageant, hoping to raise the spirits of sad Lady Dolores, whose husband is being held ransom in a foreign land. Brandy Vrchoticky directs. |
