Charlie-model Huey with Tiger Shark nose art.

The UH-1C "Charlie-model" Huey, with it's "540" rotor system, was well suited to the high performance maneuvering needed by gunship helicopters to provide close fire support for ground troops and slicks.

Most of the Tiger Shark aircraft had their distinctive logo as nose art.

Although the Charlie-model was maneuverable, the crews frequently wished they had more powerful engines.
