Sacred to the memory of

Swene McIntosh, Sen.

Who was born in Glenelg in the shire of Inverness Scotland January A.D. 1745

Came to America A, D. 1773

And departed this life April 1st, 1827

Aged 82 years and 3 months

Why should we start, or fear to die? What timorous worms we mortals are.

Death is the gate of endless joy, And yet we dread to enter there.

 

Sacred to the memory of Nancy McIntosh who was born in Glenelg in the shire of Inverness Scotland

April A, D. 1745

Came to America A. D. 1773

And departed this life December 11th, 1842

Aged 97 years and 9 months

Earth has engross’d our love too long.

Tis time we lift our eyes upward, dear Father, to thy throne And to our native skies.

 

Sacred to the memory of Alexander McIntosh

Who was born June 15th, 1776

And departed this life April 15th, 1849

Aged 72 years and 10 months

Not all the pain that e’er I bore

Shall spoil my future peace

For death and pain can do no more

That what my Father please.

 

Sacred to the memory of Mary McIntosh

Who was born March 27th A. D. 1783

And departed this life August 7th, A. D. 1836 Aged 53 years, 4 months, and 10 days

How still and peaceful is the grave

When life’s vain tumults pass.

The appointed house, by heaven’s decree,

Receives us all at last.

 

Sacred to the memory of John K. McIntosh

Who was born January 23rd, 1805

And departed this life February 8th, 1848

Aged 42 years and 15 days

Turn, mortal, turn; thy danger know

Where’er thy foot can tread.

The earth rings hollow from below

And warns thee of her dead.

Who was born November 15th, 1815

Abd departed this life February 17th, 1837

Aged 21 years, 3 months and 2 days

Life is a span, a fleeting hour;

How soon the vapour flies!

Man is a tender transient flower

That e’en in blooming dies.

 

Sacred to the memory of Angus McIntosh

Who was born May 1783

And departed this life January 8th, 1838

Aged 55 years

Though for me thy soul is mourning,

Though with grief thy heart is riven,

While my flesh to dust is turning,

All my soul is filled with heaven.

 

Sacred to the memory of Catherine McLeod

Consort of Dr. A. McLeod

Born November 7th, 1802

Married March 17th, 1825

And departed this life May 17th, 1843

The rising morning can’t insure

That we can spend the day,

For death stands ready at the door

To snatch our lives away.

 

In memory of Nancy McLeod

Born December 2, 1825

And departed this life September 26, 1829

Thou art gone to the grave

But twere wrong to deplore thee

When God was thy ransom,

Thy guardian and guide.

He gave thee and took thee

And soon will restore thee

Where death has no sting

Since the Saviour has died.

Was born May 9th, 1833

And departed this life

Thursday, quarter past one,

February 20th, 1862

We part to meet again

Where parting is no more.

Be ye also ready.

Princes, this clay must be your bed

Lived and died a consistent Member of Said Church

Aged about 65 years

Born A. D. 1795

And died May 1848

She joined the M.E. Church  A.D. 1815 and lived a consistent member of said Church

Father my soul would still abide

Within thy temple near thy side

But of my feet did hence depart

Still keep thy dwelling in my heart.

A native of Ireland

Who died on the 9th of September 1848

Aged about 45 years
