History of the 27th New York Infantry Regiment

Maj. General Henry W. Slocum

From the Geneaology of the Childs Family

Barnet W. Morse was a physician from Elmira, N.Y., where the 27th was organized. According to the Roster of the 27th he resigned his post on July 18th, 1862, so he served roughly a year. If you look closely at the history of the regiment Morse went through some heavy fighting.
