To make this snowflake I used size 10 crochet cotton and a soft sculpture needle that I had blunted the end of, I believe this pattern was designed by Norma Benporath. I had seen needle tatting on TV at this point I did not have a how to book, I faked it, and got great info on the web on how to needle tat.

On the left is my snowflake when first completed and the right is after starching with epsom salt. I am showing the difference as I felt so let down when I first completed this snowflake. How much could starching it actually do? Well as you can see it can do a lot. It is still not perfect, I can still see all my thread additions and joins, but at least it was encouraging.
